During last years Hidalgo has reported a positive trade balance, the highest level registered of exports by Hidalgo was during 2005, $552,568,975 dollars, which showed a favourable trade behavior, with the exception of the one registered during 2002 caused for external economic situations. 

Nowadays, the politics of economic development implemented by the local government, in order to increase the industrial competitiveness, has permitted consolidate sales from hidalgo into different international markets. This raise in exports has significantly contributed to the economic development of the state.
